Why Estrada

Vertically integrated, family owned

  • Our rock, our plant, our trucks. Aggregate from the Estrada quarry and crusher feeds the asphalt plant, so pricing holds through the busy season and the mix doesn't change from load to load.
  • One vendor for the whole pavement section. Flex base, hot-mix and concrete curb from the same family of companies — fewer subs, fewer hand-offs, one point of contact.
  • Spec-ready. Mix designs on file for TxDOT, NCTCOG 5th Edition and City of Dallas / Fort Worth; QC on every batch; tickets and tonnage reports available same day.
  • Built by contractors. Estrada Concrete has built North Texas streets since 2007 and Estrada Ready Mix runs thirteen batch plants. The asphalt plant is the newest addition — new equipment, decades of the same crews behind it.

Tonnage calculator

How much hot-mix do you need?

Enter the area and compacted thickness. The default unit weight is 110 lb per square yard per inch, the usual planning figure for dense-graded HMA — change it to your mix design's value.

Tons = SY × inches × lb/SY/in ÷ 2,000, plus waste. Typical unit weights: dense-graded HMA 110–115 · Type D fine surface 110 · flex base (compacted) ≈ 120–125.

Planning estimate only — compacted density, yield and joint overlap vary by mix and paver. Ask us for the design unit weight on the specific mix before ordering.

Questions

Straight answers before you call

Do you install asphalt or just supply it?

Supply only. Estrada Asphalt produces and delivers hot-mix, cold mix and flex base; your paving crew places it. We don't own milling machines or pavers and don't bid lay-down work.

What hot-mix types do you produce?

TxDOT Item 340 dense-graded Type B (base/intermediate) and Type D (surface), NCTCOG Item 302 equivalents, with PG 64-22 or PG 70-22 binder. Mix design submittals are available on request for any product.

What is the minimum order and how far do you deliver?

Hot-mix is sold by the ton with no formal minimum, but short loads carry a surcharge. Hot-mix is normally delivered within about 45 minutes of the Hutchins plant so it arrives at placement temperature; cold mix and flex base ship anywhere in North and Central Texas.

Can I pick up at the plant with my own trucks?

Yes — FOB plant pricing is available for hot-mix, cold mix and base. Call dispatch the day before for hot-mix so the plant is running your mix when you arrive.

How many tons do I need?

Multiply square yards by compacted inches by about 110 lb per square yard per inch, then divide by 2,000. Our on-page tonnage calculator does this and lets you change the unit weight and waste factor.

Are you certified or MWBE?

Estrada is a family-owned, MWBE-certified group of companies. Certification documents, insurance certificates and W-9 are available with your first order.
